Lillian Hince, 92

Brooks - Lillian Hince, 92, died Sunday, June 10, 2001 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. today Hince Obit (Wednesday, June 13) at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brooks with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Lorraine Mercil will be the organist. Casketbearers will be Rick Grove, Scott Grove, Tim Hince, George Burthwick, LeRoy Lynch and Shawn Hince. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Brooks.

Visitation was held Tuesday, June 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. with an 8 p.m. rosary service at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brooks. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to today's services. Johnson Funeral Service of Red Lake Falls is in charge of the arrangements.

Lillian Riel was born on September 14, 1908 in Lambert township of Red Lake county, the daughter of Frank and Della (Hance) Riel. She grew up and was educated in Lambert township.

On August 20, 1928, Lillian was united in marriage to Theodore Hince at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The couple lived in Lambert township until 1939 when they moved into Brooks. Theodore died on October 15, 1983. Since October of 1999, Lillian had been a resident of Oakland Park Nursing Home.

She sewed for many people in Brooks and enjoyed baking, gardening, canning, making quilts, sewing crocheting, playing cards and visiting with friends and family. Every year, Lillian made a quilt which she donated it to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Lillian is survived by two sons, Willard (Shirley) Hince of Thief River Falls and Russell (Cheryl) Hince of Brooks; a daughter, Evangeline (Sherlen) Grove of Brooks; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; a sister, Velma Kathman of Thief River Falls; a brother-in-law; and four sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Duane Hince; a daughter, Dolores Burthwick; five grandchildren; her parents; and nine siblings. A00003B2001JN13
