Lake Falls - Urho Hill, 90, died on Monday,
August 11 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake
Falls.
Funeral
services were held on
Sunday,
August 17 at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Red Lake
Falls with the Rev. Jeffrey Lytle officiating.
Casketbearers were Matthew Wilson, Bryce Wilson,
Jacob Johnson, Tyler Johnson and Jordan Gervais.
Honorary casketbearers were the staff at Hillcrest
Nursing Home. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery
in Red Lake Falls.
Urho
Woodrow Hill was born in Plummer on September 17,
1912, the son of Gjalmer and Marie (Maki) Hill. He
grew up on the family farm in Plummer and attended
country school. He went into farming with his
father.
In
1931, he married Marion Berg. The couple made their
home northeast of Plummer, where he milked cows and
farmed his whole life. In 1999, he moved into
Hillcrest Nursing Home, where he has since resided.
Urho loved to read and watch football. He was a big
Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Twins
fan.
Survivors
include two daughters, Joyce (Albert) Gervais of
Red Lake Falls and Jean Harbott of Minneapolis; two
sons, Arnold (Irene) of Belton, Texas, and Leonard
(Merna) of Sun City, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; four great
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Stagid of
Seattle, Wash., and Ann Stodalowski of Minneapolis;
and brother, Wayne (Lorraine) of
Minneapolis.
Urho
was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; his
parents; a daughter, Yvonne Blokzal; sister, Sylvia
Magnell; and four brothers, Matt, Hugo, John and
Al.
