- Lowell Hetland, 82, died on Friday, January
10, 2003 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake
Falls.
Funeral
services will be held on Monday, January 20 at
Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls
with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Honorary
casketbearers will be all of Lowell's friends and
family who attend the service.
Visitation
will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. on Monday, January
20 at Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River
Falls.
Lowell
Hetland was born on August 1, 1920, the son of
Mandel and Grace (Charleston) Hetland in Gonvick.
He grew up and attended school in Gonvick. He
worked in the Conservation Corp and later, entered
the United States Army. During World War II, he was
stationed in England.
After his
discharge, Lowell was united in marriage to Cynthia
Green on May 5, 1947. The couple lived in
Minnesota, Idaho, Montana and Washington before
moving to Newfolden in 1968, where they have since
resided. Lowell worked in construction, insulating
houses, through a government program and also
worked on a dairy farm.
Survivors
include his daughters, Loretta (John) Stevens of
Sandpoint, Idaho and Patricia Moss of Battle
Mountain, Nev.; sons, Michael and Darrell Hetland,
both of Newfolden; six grandchildren; several
great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Lundy of
Arizona; and brothers, Carrol (Janet) Hetland of
Gonvick and Mel (Edith) Hetland of
Washington.
Lowell
was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia, and his
parents.
