Thief River Falls - Loella "Lu" Hendrickson, 94, died on Sunday, April 20, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with the Rev. Tim McGee officiating. Carol Amundson will be the organist. Casketbearers will be Chad Green, Jay Saunders, Matt Saunders, Spencer Roth, Jim Amundson and Leigh "Punky" Grindeland. Interment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m on Thursday, April 24 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with a 7 p.m. prayer service and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Loella O'Hara was born on June 27, 1908, the daughter Edward and Dora (Hostettler) O'Hara. She attended schools in Thief River Falls, graduating from nurses training in 1928. She worked at the T.B. Sanatorium in Thief River Falls. She then worked at the hospital in International Falls, where she met and married Henry Thompson. She moved to Rockford, Ill., in 1942 and married Edwin Hendrickson in 1943, before returning to Thief River Falls in 1946. The couple bought O'Hara Fuel and Ice Company. She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo and knitting.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Junko Thompson of Hopewell, Va.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; a sister, Harriet Mathews; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Loella was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; sons, Harvey and Michael; her parents; siblings, Margaret Hegtvedt, Gertrude Grindeland, Dorothy Risberg, Clair (Shorty), Bob and Jake O'Hara.
