Thief
River Falls - Helen Helmoski, 93, died Tuesday,
March 13, 2001 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in
Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services were held at
noon
on Friday, March 16, at St. Bernard's Catholic
Church in Thief River Falls with Father Dennis
Wieland officiating. Carol Amundson was the
organist and special music was provided by the
Resurrection Choir. Casketbearers were Robert
Greevers, Larry Mozinski, Mark Mozinski,
Christopher Mozinski, Carl Osowski and Rodney
Schuster. Burial was in St. Bernard's Catholic
Cemetery in Thief River Falls with Green Funeral
Home in charge of the arrangements.
Helen
Kowalczik was born on July 20, 1907 in Leo, the
daughter of Stanley and Stella (Gonsorowski)
Kowalczik. She was baptized in the Catholic faith
at Leo and attended a country school near there.
The family later moved to the Warsaw, N.D.
area.
On
June 21, 1927, Helen was united in marriage to
Louis Helmoski in Warsaw. The couple moved to
Detroit, Mich. and resided there for a few years
before returning to the Minto/Warsaw, N.D. area
where they farmed. When Louis died in 1993, Helen
moved with her daughter to Thief River Falls. She
had been a resident of Oakland Park Nursing Home
for the past seven years.
She
was a member of St. Stanislau's Catholic Church in
Warsaw and St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief
River Falls.
Helen
is survived by a daughter, Rosalie (Ed) Mozinski of
Thief River Falls; six grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; a great great-grandchild; a
brother, Richard of Carson City, Nev.; four
sisters, Verna Maszke of Grafton, N.D., Irene
(Gerald) Bina of Ardock, N.D., Florence Lessard of
Minot, N.D. and Eleanor (John) Durkin of Grand
Forks, N.D.; and many nieces and nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a
son, Jim Helmoski; four brothers, Ed, Joe, Stanley
and John; and two sisters, Dorothy Lunski and
