Marie Helm, 89 Warroad - Marie Helm, 89, died on Monday, June 28, 2004 at her granddaughter's home in Warroad. Funeral services for Marie Helm were held on Thursday, July 1, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Warroad. Interment was held on Friday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Marie A. Helm, the daughter of Anna (Cook) and Damus Blazek was born in Swartara. Marie was married to Roy Shetler and had one son, Larry. She married Donald Helm afer she was divorced from Shetler. Donald died in 1981 and is buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Marie lived in St. Paul for 20 years of her life, in Park Rapids for 20 years, and then in Coon Rapids. She recently moved to Warroad to live with her granddaughter, Tammy, and to be closer to her son, Larry, who resides in Warroad during the summer. Marie loved music and dance. She also loved watching birds. Her favorite bird was the yellow head black bird. She watched it daily out her window. Survivors include her son, Larry (Dolly) Shetler of Thief River Falls; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta "Sis" Julien of California and Roseann "Toots" Wiggs of Florida.
