Frank Heinze, 98

Thief River Falls - Frank Heinze, 98, died Thursday, April 19, 2001 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at Heinze Obit 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. John Wollenzien officiating. Dee Wollenzien was the organist, and Leroy Aasland was the soloist. Casketbearers were Richard Bergland, Emil Heieren, Floyd Hanson, Irvin Iverson, John Hoffman and Eugene Rondorf. Interment was in Holt Cemetery in Holt with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Frank Eddie Heinze was born on March 21, 1903 at Holt, the son of Charlie and Alma (Hanson) Heinze. He was baptized at Nazareth Lutheran Church at Holt and later confirmed there in 1919. He worked with his parents in their truck garden business. In 1923, he moved with his parents to Thief River Falls and continued to work with them, selling wood, vegetables and fruit.

On November 12, 1939, Frank was united in marriage to Gladys Svanajord by Rev. Fjelstad at Trinity parsonage in Thief River Falls. The couple lived south of Thief River Falls and sold cord wood and vegetables. After retiring in 1973, Frank moved into Thief River Falls. He had resided at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center since February 17, 2001.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway and the Sow and Hoe Garden Club in Thief River Falls.

Frank enjoyed working with horses and animals, providing hay and sleigh rides to children and visiting with friends and neighbors, talking about the "good old days."

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; two foster daughters, Nancy Hagman of Bemidji and Ruth Smith of Brainerd; a niece; three nephews; and many cousins, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harry Heinze; and several cousins.
