Clifford Hegge, 88

Fosston - Clifford Hegge, 88, died on Monday, November 24, 2003 at First Care Medical Services in Fosston.

Funeral services were held on Hegge, Clifford 2 Saturday, Nov. 29, at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Oklee. Casket bearers included his grandchildren, Don Burback Jr., Kirk Burback, Thomas Burback, Bradley Hegge, Ross Hegge, Jason Ventura, Jeremy Ventura, Benjamin Hanson, Clifton Hanson Andrew Hanson and Myron Sorgaard. Interment was held in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Clifford Raymond Hegge was born on December 17, 1914 in Adams, the son of Klemmet and Rachel (Hippe) Hegge. The family moved to Eldred, when Clifford was 6 years old. He was baptized in Adams and confirmed in Eldred. He attended the Rural 1st Consolidated School in Minnesota at Eldred.

Clifford worked on large farms, including Andy Drangseth Farms in Eldred, Bradley Farms and Alfred Lindem Farms. He was employed at the Oklee Elevator for 25 years.

Clifford was united in marriage to Gunda Larson on June 1, 1941 at Salem Lutheran Church. Following their marriage the couple purchased a farm north of Oklee, where they have resided since.

He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and loved farming and raising cattle.

Clifford was a member of Salem Lutheran Church for over 60 years. He was also a member of Farm Bureau and Farmers Union.

Survivors include his wife, Gunda of Oklee; seven children, Dawn (Dale) Hanson of Goodridge, Loren (Tami) of Walker, Susan (Dale) Spong of Grand Forks, N.D. Linda (Michael) Ventura-Box of Oklee, Ronald (Ellen) of Oklee, Sharon (Don) Burback of White Bear Lake, and Gene (Dianne) Hegge of Fosston; 24 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle Moen of Crookston, Lorraine Davis of Kennedy, Elsie (Marvin) Higgins of Shawnee, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Lorna; one grandson; brothers and sisters, Orris, Ervin, Floyd, Glenn, Angeline Stinger, Gladys Hegge and Ruth Garnquist; one niece and four nephews. A00003B2003DC03
