Hallock
- Emma Heaton, 96, formerly of Thief River
Falls, died on Sunday, December 29, 2002 at the
Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January
2, 2003 at 11 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in
Gatzke with Rev. Sandra Hollands officiating.
Casketbearers will be Alan Wardwell, Douglas
Wardwell, Gary Heaton, Paul Heaton, David Heaton,
Richard Heaton, Robert Long, Matthew Heaton,
Brandon Heaton, Michael Ranum, David Ranum and John
Koskela. Interement will be in the Landstad
Cemtery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday,
January 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Green Funeral
Home in Thief River Falls and for one hour prior to
services at the church on Thursday.
Emma
Johnson was born on April 11, 1906, the daughter of
Hans Martin and Gerda Maria (Carlsdotter) Johnson
in Joliet, Ill. As a child, she moved with her
family to Newfolden and, later, to Gatzke. She
attended school in Gatzke and was baptized in
Joliet, Ill. She was confirmed in the Lutheran
faith.
On
November 24, 1930, she was united in marriage to
Erwin St. Clair Heaton. The couple moved to Thief
River Falls in 1947 and lived in Naples, Fla. and
Barnum after retirement.
Survivors
include four children, Elaine (Wilson B.) Wardwell
of Carlsbad, N.M., Wallace (Delores Kainz) Heaton
of Thief River Falls, Dale (Alice) Heaton of Moose
Lake and Delores Long of Hallock; 17 grandchildren;
and 38 great-grandchildren.
Emma
was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin; her
parents; a sister, Hulda Johnson; brothers, Carl,
Gerhardt and Axel Johnson; a grandson; a
daughter-in-law; and several aunts, uncles and
cousins.
