Jay Hayek, 44

Strandquist - Jay J. Hayek, 44, died on Sunday, August 18, 2002 at his home in Strandquist.

Funeral services were held on Friday, August 23 at the First United Methodist Church in Cresco, Iowa.

A memorial service and inurnment will be held on Wednesday, August 28 (today) at the Karlstad Seventh Day Adventist Church at 4 p.m.

Jay J. Hayek was born of May 29, 1958, the son of Adolph and Delores (Hosting) Hayek in Cresco, Iowa. He graduated from Notre Dame High School

On August 6, 1977, he married Shirley Hurst in Cresco, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Strandquist; his children, Phillip (Ginny) Hayek of Rochester, Jessica (Zachery) Harm of Rochester and Jason Hayek of Strandquist; six brothers, Adolph Jr. of Lake Tropicana, Fla.; Jim of Hoodsport, Wash.; Jean (Alicia) of Covington, Wash.; and Joe, Jerome and Julius all of Cresco, Iowa; six sisters, JoAnn (Jerry) Andera of Manley, Iowa; Jaci (Mike) Tipton of Winterset, Iowa; Joyce (Gene) Kapler of Cresco, Iowa; Jane (Cal) Steffen of Decorah, Iowa; Janet (Rodney) Hodges of Harmony; and Julie of Southfield, Mich.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Johnny Hayek. A00003B2002AG28
