T. Haugen, 83
Madison,
Wis. - Reuben Thomas Haugen, 83, died on
January 26, 2004 in Madison, Wis.
His
family held a memorial service at Folden Cemetery
on June 19.
Reuben
Thomas Haugen was born March 21, 1920 in Fertile to
Andrew and Josephine Haugen. He moved with his
family to a farm in Gatzke in 1925 and again a few
years later to a farm between Holt and Newfolden.
Reuben attended Lincoln High School and worked as a
farm hand until 1942.
In
1942, Reuben entered the U.S. Army to serve his
country and was honorably discharged in 1945. After
leaving the service, he worked in Chicago, Ill.
before settling in Minneapolis. He worked at the
Foshay Tower and enjoyed many Twins baseball games
at the dome. Upon his retirement, he moved to
Madison, Wis. to be closer to his brother, Kenneth,
and other family members.
Rueben
is survived by one brother, Kenneth Haugen of
Madison, Wis.; three sisters, Viola Moen of
Newfolden, Alvina Stevens of Augusta, Wis. and
Dorothy Watkins of Gladstone, Mo.; and many nieces
and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and
Josephine; brothers Idon, Walter, Nyard and
Henning; and sisters Amy Haugen, Hannah Haugen,
Bergetta Blehm, Evelyn Kath and Kora Schneid.
