Norma Haugen, 81

Thief River Falls - Norma Haugen, 81, died on Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Norma Janet Haugen was born on September 9, 1921, the daughter of Alfred and Ruth (Nybakken) Haugen in Thief River Falls. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939. Following high school, she attended Bemidji State Teacher's College for two years. Norma taught for one year at Rothsay and one year at Strandquist. She then went to work for the United States Weather Bureau in Green Bay, Wisc. and also worked in Cleveland, Ohio for two-and-a-half years. She then moved to Thief River Falls, where she has since resided. Norma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Grace Mayta of Thief River Falls and Harriet Lockrem of Schroeder; and two nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law.
