Thief
River Falls - Louisa Haugen, 87, died on
Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at the CNC Unit of Northwest
Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral
services were held on Saturday, July 5 at the
Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with
the Rev. Mark Helgeland officiating. Casketbearers
were Norman Blackstad, Al Melby, Gary Anderson, Ken
Froscheiser, Roger Hible and Jim Fisher. Interment
was in Clearwater Cemetery in Thief River
Falls.
Louisa
Geneva Maria Lennie was born in Bidwell, Iowa, on
July 4, 1915, the daughter of Louie and Florence
(Norman) Lennie. She was baptized as an adult in
the Lutheran faith and attended elementary and
middle school in Albia, Dallas and Melcher,
Iowa.
On
July 8, 1930, she was united in marriage to G.
Christian Haugen in Randall, Iowa. She worked in
several restaurants in Thief River Falls, including
the Palm Garden, Pennington Hotel Coffee Shop, Soo
Café, Rex Café and Kifes. She also
worked at the S & L Store, Sunflower Plant,
Valley Home and Sunflower Valley Products. She
enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, bowling and
loved spending time with her family.
Survivors
include five children, Christian D. (Mary Lu) of
Eureka, S.D., Richard (Janice) of Thief River
Falls, Beverly (Tom) Gustafson of Thief River
Falls, Mark (Holly) of Thief River Falls, and James
(Penny) of Thief River Falls; 17 grandchildren; 37
great-grandchildren; three great
great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Jessie of
Ottumwa, Iowa; and many nieces and
nephews.
Louisa
was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter,
Diane; her parents; and a brother, Louis Orville
