Dorothy Haugen, 64

Brainerd - Dorothy Haugen, 64, died on Friday, February 7, 2003 at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.

Memorial services were held on Monday, February 10 at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd.

Dorothy Galland was born on January 8, 1939, the daughter of Roy and May (Helm) Galland in Mentor. She attended school and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On August 6, 1957 she was united in marriage to Frank Elton Plante, Jr. in Red Lake Falls. The couple made their home in Brooks. Frank died in 1975, and Dorothy continued to live in Brooks.

On June 23, 1984, she married Jerome Haugen in Oklee. The couple made their home in McIntosh. Jerome died in 1987 and Dorothy moved to Brainderd shortly after, where she made her home until entering Bethany Good Samaritan Village in May.

Dorothy worked on a mink ranch for a few years before taking a job at Arctic Cat, Inc. in Thief River Falls, where she worked for many years. Dorothy also worked with the Head Start Program for a number of years. While living in Brainerd, she was an active member of Right Friends, as well as being active in her church.

Survivors include a son, Jim (Shirley) Plante of Grafton, N.D.; four daughters, Linda (Tim) Ostlund of Crookston, Roxanne (Mike) Finseth of Thief River Falls, Diane Plante of Brainerd and Debbie Plante of Thief River Falls; two brothers, Robert Goergen of Euclid and Ed Goergen of Cando, N.D.; two sisters, Grace Wallace of Escondido, Calif. and Etta Flicek of Brainerd; four step-sons and one step-daughter; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; close friends, Connie Rasmussen and Duane Anderson; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerome; a son, Curtiss; a grandson; two brothers, Donald Goergen and Mervin Galland; and one sister, Ann Bommer. A00003B2003FB12
