Coal Valley died April 21, 2004 at Parkview Terrace
in East Moline, Ill.
Funeral
Services were held on Monday, April 26, at Wheelan
Funeral Home in Rock Island, Ill.
Interment
was held at the National Cemetery, Rock Island
Arsenal, with military honors being conducted by
the Moline American Legion Post No. 246.
Curtis
was born May 13, 1929 in Roseau, to Henry and Annie
(Midboe) Hanson.
Curtis
served in the US Army during the Korean
War.
He
was united in marriage to Shirley Jeffery on Aug.
16, 1952 in Rock Island, Ill.
He
worked at John Deere and Company as a welder and
supervisor for 33 years retiring in
1984.
Curtis
loved gardening, woodworking, and carpentry
work.
He
was an avid Cubs and Minnesota Vikings
fan.
Curtis
was a member of the Moline VFW No. 2153, past
District and Post Commander.
Survivors
include his wife, Shirley; children, Judith (Fred)
Bolio of Silvis, Ill., Kathy (Robert) Romo of Rock
Island, Ill., David (Rosie) Hanson of Mississippi,
Tim (Debbie) Hanson of Springfield, Mo., Curtis D.
(Sue) Hanson Jr. of Moline, Ill., Sandy (Tim)
DeVrieze of Moline, Ill., Penny (Jeff) Spiegel of
Moline, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest Hanson of
Des Plaines, Ill. and Vernon Hanson of Moline,
Ill.; and one sister, Thelma Anderson of Thief
River Falls.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; one sister,
Hattie Johnson and one infant sister; brothers,
Kenneth, Marvin, Alvin, and one infant
brother.
