Thief
River Falls - Alice Hanson, 87, died on
Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Northwest Medical
Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday,
September 27 at the Evangelical Free Church in
Thief River Falls with the Rev. Kevin Meyer and the
Rev. Mel Sich officiating. Casketbearers will be
all of Alice's grandchildren. Interment will be in
Silverton Cemetery in Silverton Township of
Pennington County. Visitation will be held from 4
to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Friday,
September 26 at Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief
River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one
hour prior to services at the church on
Saturday.
Alice
Irene Wold was born on February 23, 1916 in Agder
Township of Marshall County, the daughter of
Ingvald and Alma (Bredeson) Wold. She was baptized
and confirmed at Satersdahl Lutheran Church and
attended Sunnyside Country School and graduated
from Lincoln High School in Thief River
Falls.
On June
6, 1948 Alice was united in marriage to Martin
Hanson. The couple farmed their entire lives in
Silverton Township. She enjoyed being a housewife
and helping her husband on the family farm. She
also worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company
as a telephone operator and at Ben Franklin. Alice
was well known for her cake decorating and enjoyed
gardening, especially working with her
strawberries. She loved passing out food samples at
Hugo's. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
Alice was a member of the Evangelical Free Church
in Thief River Falls and WMS.
Survivors
include three children, Mark (Audrey) Hanson of
Thief River Falls, Gary (Sherril) Hanson of
Troutman, N.C., and Grace (Kevin) Meyer of
Independence; nine grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; one brother, Irving Wold of
Fergus Falls; a brother-in-law, Silas (Marjorie)
Hanson of Thief River Falls; one sister, Judith
Wold; two sisters-in-law, Verna Wold and Lenore
Wold, both of Thief River Falls; and many nieces
and nephews.
Alice was
preceded in death by her husband, Martin; three
brothers, Clarence, Rueben and Benhard Wold; and
three sisters, Myrtle Hanson, Gladys Vedum and
