Thief
River Falls - Beverly Hamre, 67, died
Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at Northwest Medical Center
in Thief River Falls. Funeral services were held at
10 a.m.
on Saturday, May 19, at Zion Lutheran Church in
Thief River Falls with Rev. Gary Graff and Rev.
Zack Wilson officiating. Louise Solseng was the
organist, and the soloists were Corie Erickson and
Celeste Leach. Casketbearers were Gary Aandal, Tony
Moe, Perry Hamre, Kevin Hamre, Curtis Larson and
Mark Larson. Honorary casketbearers were Carol
Waswick, Clarice Sorteberg, Lois Burstad and the
staff at Hillcrest Nursing Home. Interment was in
Community Cemetery in River Falls township of
Pennington county. Green Funeral Home of Thief
River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Beverly Jean Larson was born on December 4, 1933 in
River Falls township of Pennington county, the
daughter of Albert I. and Edith (Erickson) Larson.
She attended school in Karlstad. Her mother died
when Bev was eight years old and when she was nine
years old she moved to Thief River Falls to live
with her uncle and aunt, Gust and Elsie Larson. She
attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating
from Lincoln High School in 1951. Following
graduation, Bev moved to California for a short
time where her father was working in the shipyards.
She returned to Thief River Falls and began working
for L.B. Hartz.
On
September 15, 1966, Bev was united in marriage to
LaVerne Hamre in Sisseton, S.D. The couple lived
and raised their family in Numedal township. Bev
continued her employment at L.B. Hartz until her
retirement in 1992 after 34 years. She also worked
at Tri-Valley for a short time. In February of
2000, Bev moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red
Lake Falls where she enjoyed the many people she
met and looked forward to spending weekends at home
with LaVerne.
Bev
was a member of Oak Ridge Lutheran Church were she
was active in the Ladies Aid and served on the
church council and as a Sunday school teacher. She
also served as a 4-H leader, clerk of Numedal
township for five years and as a member of the
advisory committee of the Northwest Vocational
Cooperative Center. She was a member of the
American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, Lioness club,
Christian Women's Club and Business and
Professional Women's Association.
Bev
enjoyed her grandchildren and attending their
activities, farm life, gardening and working with
flowers, reading, quilting, cross stitch, visiting
with people and attending parades with "Ole" the
ox.
Survivors
include her husband, LaVerne of Thief River Falls;
a daughter, Tawnya (Tim) Panek of Newfolden; two
sons, Kirk (Holly) Hamre of Roseau and Kirby
(Kathy) Hamre of Thief River Falls; seven
grandchildren; two brothers, Lester (Gloria) Larson
and Cliff (Carmen) Larson, both of Thief River
Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bev
was preceded in death by her parents; aunt and
uncle, Elsie and Gust Larson; grandparents; three
brothers-in-law; and her mother-in-law and
father-in-law.
