Earl Halvorson, 82

halvorson_earlGoodridge - Earl Halvorson, 82, died on Sunday, April 27, 2003 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30 (today) at Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls with the Revs. Jim Howard and John Barkman officiating. Casketbearers will be Lowell Swanson, Dale Hanson, Stanley Skibicki, Doug Horachek, Dale Anderson and Rodney Hoffman. Honorary casketbearers will be Ray Sather, Clyde Christensen, Selmer Holen, Edgar Miller, Orlin Hanson, Ernie Swanson, Joe Horachek, Palmer Lovly and Enock Olson. Interment will be in the Czeck National Cemetery of rural Goodridge. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Earl Peter Halvorson was born on April 4, 1921, the son of Peter and Nellie (Twito) Halvorson, near Goodridge. He grew up and attended school, graduating from Goodridge High School in 1939.

On October 10, 1952, he married Helen Nygaard in Thief River Falls. Earl farmed on the family farm near Goodridge. He attended meat cutting school in Toledo, Ohio and also worked at American Crystal Sugar in Crookston for seven years. Earl enjoyed trips to the Bagley Sales Barn, horses, gardening, hiking, camping, biking, canoeing and working with beef cattle. He liked to run errands and help his son on the beef ranch. He especially loved watching and supporting his grandchildren, celebrating birthdays and holidays with his family and visiting with his many friends.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Goodridge; son, Robert (Jean) of Goodridge; three grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Edna Paulson of Shakopee, Ida Paulson of Fargo, N.D., and Eloise Halvorson of Nashwauk; as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Opal Stucy, Phyllis Salveson and Amber Sandsmark; and brothers, Percy and Lester Halvorson. A00003B2003AR30
