Halling, Patrick PhotoThief River Falls - Patrick Halling Sr., 69, died on Monday, April 5, 2004 at his home in Thief River Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2004 at St. Bernard's Church in Thief River Falls, with Father Tim McGee officiating. Military honors will be provided by Thief River Falls American Legion Ecklund-Holmstrom Post 117 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2793. Interment of cremains will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Patrick Raymond Halling was born March 18, 1935 in Watertown, S.D., the son of Raymond and Irene (Mitchell) Halling. He was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Church in Watertown and also attended the church school.

Patrick served his country in the United States Army and Air Force, where he retired after 23 years, having served in Korea and Viet Nam. He also worked for Milender's Mail Service for 20 years.

On September 21, 1957, Patrick was united in marriage to Jeanet (Jan) Aschberger.

Patrick was a member of St. Bernard's Church and a life member of the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, coin collecting and watching the Minnesota Vikings. Most of all, he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

Survivors include six children, Patrick R. (Kaydall) Halling, Jr. of Fergus Falls, Rita M. (Rob) Cartier of Fosston, Sharon L. (Luke) Noreen of Thief River Falls, Julie A. (Mike) Dahle of Fosston, Timothy J. Halling of St. Hilaire and Jennifer D. (fiance, Chad Schroth) Halling of Thief River Falls; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; grandparents, William and Mary Halling and Peter and Agnes Mitchell; brother Dennis Halling of Watertown, S.D.; and one sister, Rita (Bill) Chase of Watertown, S.D.
