Katherine Hagman, 82

Thief River Falls - Katherine Hagman, 82, died on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 2 Hagman, Katherine p.m. on Wednesday, February 19 (today) at the United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls with the Rev. Dan Horn officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church. Barb Hauger will be the organist and Van Swanson will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be Katherine's grandsons, Vince Erickson, Kent Westlin, Gary Engstrom, Jr., Steve Engstrom, Chris Hagman, Jeremy Hagman, Duane Hagman, Jr., Daniel Hagman, Brian Erickson, Ken Hagman, Jr. and Blade Hagman. Honorary casketbearers will be all of Katherine's granddaughters. Interment will be held in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Katherine Margaret Appelman was born on July 22, 1920, the daughter of Martinius and Anna (Rempt) Appelman in Highlanding. She grew up and attended school in Highlanding. In 1940, she was united in marriage to George Gunderson.

On February 19, 1947, she was united in marriage to Emil Hagman at the Methodist Church in Thief River Falls. Besides raising her family, she worked gardening and selling vegetables in the area. She was also employed at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls for a number of years.

Katherine enjoyed raising a garden and flowers, especially gladiolas. She enjoyed playing cards, watching and feeding the wildlife, and her dog, King. In her younger years, she also enjoyed snowmobiling. She was a member of a flower club and the Snowmobile Club.

Survivors include seven children, Hazel (Donald) Erickson of Inver Grove Heights, Violet (Gary) Engstrom of Thief River Falls, Larry (Grace) of Thief River Falls, Rosie (Curt) Westlin of Thief River Falls, Roger (Nancy) of Bemidji, Duane (Theresa) of Thief River Falls, and Ken (Lesa) of Thief River Falls; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Emil; three brothers, Cornelius, Raymond and an infant brother; and two sisters, Grace Rademacher and Helen Sweep. A00003B2003FB19
