Margaret Haack, 87

Grygla - Margaret Haack, 87, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla with Rev. Paul Knutson officiating. Joy Nordby was the organist. Casketbearers were Larry Vigen, LeRoy Vigen, David Grovum, Steven Holte, Joe Holte, and Tim Holte. Interment was in St. Olaf Cemetery in Valley Township of Marshall County with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret Luella Wold was born on July 2, 1914 in Velt Township of Marshall County, the daughter of Joseph and Claire (Erickson) Wold. She grew up near Gatzke where she attended a country school and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Margaret attended high school in Duluth, Goodridge, and International Falls where she graduated.

On March 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to Francis Edgar Haack in St. Paul. The couple made their home on the Haack family farm in Valley Township of Marshall County where they farmed. Francis died in 1990. Margaret also worked at Land O'Lakes and Arctic Cat. She moved to Independence Hall in Grygla where she had since resided.

Margaret was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in circle and taught Sunday school.

She enjoyed cooking, knitting, gardening, traveling to Florida to see her children and grandchildren, and especially, spending time with her family.

Margaret is survived by a daughter, Peggy (Larry) Shaw of Seminole, Fla.; four sons, Daniel (Terry) of Grygla, Paul of Tampa, Fla., Donald (Jude) of Grygla, and Peter (Geniene) of Andover; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Kermit (Ellen) Wold in Florida; three sisters, Evelyn (Obert) Grovum of Thief River Falls, Alice (Ervin) Vigen of Grygla, and Helen Swanson of Inver Grove Heights; and a sister-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Juel and Adrian Wold; and a sister, Shirley Wold. A00003B2002AP03
