Gustafson, 65
Thief
River Falls - Beverly Gustafson, 65, died on
Monday, May 3, 2004 at her home in Thief River
Falls, following a brave battle with
cancer.
Funeral
services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 7 at
Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with
Rev. Mark Helgeland officiating. Casket bearers
include Beverly's nieces and nephews. Interment
will be at Clearwater Cemetery in rural Thief River
Falls.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 6 at the
Johnson-Green Funeral Service in Thief River Falls
with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Thursday evening
and at the church for one hour prior to services on
Friday.
Beverly
Ann Haugen was born on February 6, 1939 in
Pennington County, near Plummer, the daughter of
Gerhard Christian and Louisa Geneva Maria (Lennie)
Haugen. She was baptized in April of 1939 at
Clearwater Lutheran Church by Pastor Dahle and
confirmed on May 23, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran
Church by Pastor Jacobson. She attended Northrup
and Knox Elementary Schools in Thief River Falls,
graduating from Lincoln High School in 1957.
Following High School, Beverly enrolled in the
L.P.N. Nursing Program at the Thief River Falls
Area Vocational School, graduating in 1958.
Beverly
was united in marriage to Thomas Gustafson on July
19, 1958 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. The
couple made their home in Thief River Falls and
Beverly worked at the Falls Theater, Norris
Melander Agency, Northwestern Hospital and the
Inter-County Nursing Service, where she was
employed for 14 years.
She
enjoyed crossword puzzles, walking and especially
loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She
was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Altar
Guild, taught Sunday School, served on the church
council, sang in the church choir and was a Girl
Scout and Boy Scout Leader.
Beverly
is survived by her husband, Tom; four children,
Marci Lull of Bemidji, Vicki (David) De Koeyer of
Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, Kathi (Scott)
Sorter of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Cory (Dawn)
Gustafson of Thief River Falls; five grandchildren;
four brothers, Christian (Mary Lu) Haugen of
Eureka, S.D., Richard (Janice) Haugen of Thief
River Falls, Mark (Holly) Haugen of Thief River
Falls, and James (Penny) Haugen of Thief River
Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; her
grandparents, one sister, Diane Jorstad; two
sisters-in-law, Mary Gustafson and Beverly Fisher;
and brother-in-law, Ralph Jorstad. A00003B2004MY05
