- Funeral services celebrating the life of
Clare Guptill, 83, of Glencoe were held on
Thursday, June 10, 2004, at the Church of St. Pius
X in Glencoe. Officiating was Father Eugene
Lozinski. Serving as casketbearers were David
Guptill jr., Cindy Emerson, Katie Emerson, David
Oddette, Jerry Hoffman and Joshua Stene. Interment
was in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in
Minneapolis.
Clare
Guptill was born the daughter of John and Mary
(Haider) Hoffman on June 11, 1920 in Thief River
Falls. She was baptized and confirmed into the
faith at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief
River Falls. Clare attended and graduated from
Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls and then
went on to three years at the University of
Minnesota. On June 14, 1975, Clare was united in
marriage with John Guptill by the Rev. Paul Pratt
in Paynesville. Clare really enjoyed being a
homemaker, whether it was baking, canning or
sewing. She also liked to be outside working in her
garden. On June 6, 2004 Clare Guptill died at
Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care at
the age of 83 years, 11 months and 25 days. She was
preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law
Robert Guptill.
Clare
is survived by her husband John Guptill of Glencoe,
step-daughter, Sharon Hawkinson (Kip) of Big Lake;
two step-grandchildren; brother John Hoffman Jr. of
Holt; sister Mary Peterson (Roy) of Mankato;
sister-in-law Caroline Guptill of Winthrop;
brothers-in-law David Guptill (Erica) of Maple Lake
and Harold (Skip) Guptill Jr., of Shorewood; as
well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
