Vergas
- Gilman I. Gunstinson, 90, died on Thursday,
June 24, 2004 at Crystal Lake Inn in rural Pelican
Rapids.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, June 29, at 11 a.m.
at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Loon Lake, Vergas
with Reverend Michael Wolters officiating.
Interment was held at the Vergas Village Cemetery.
Gilman
Inor Gunstinson was born the son of Ole and Mary
Gunstinson on September 25, 1913 in Fisher. There
he was raised and attended school, graduating in
1930.
He
then worked on area farms before moving to Alaska
where he worked road construction. He moved back to
the Fisher area and worked for the Fisher Creamery.
He
was united in marriage to Mary Horack on September
27, 1940 in Fisher. Gilman managed creameries
throughout the area including Lengby, Holt, Roseau,
and Vergas until 1966. From 1966 until his
retirement in 1978, he worked as a dairy inspector
for the State of Minnesota.
Gilman
enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards and he
was a charter member of the Vergas Lions.
He
is survived by a son, Gary (Marian) of Frazee and a
sister, Lillian Quirk of Crookston.
He
was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; two
sisters, Laverne Nephew and Mabel Knutson; and two
brothers, Ervin and Ernest Gunstinson.
