Maymie Gullingsrud, 98

Harvey, N.D. - Maymie Gullingsrud, 98, died Monday, April 16, 2001 at St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey, N.D.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Harvey, N.D. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21. Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey was in charge of the arrangements.

Maymie Isabelle Anderson was born on May 29, 1902 in Black River township near St. Hilaire, the daughter of John and Annie (Scoland) Anderson. She grew up near St. Hilaire and helped on the family farm.

On July 1, 1927, she married John Gullingsrud at Black River Lutheran Church near St. Hilaire. The couple lived in Thief River Falls where they raised their family. John died on September 16, 1957. Maymie later moved back to the family farm where she helped take care of her mother with her brother, Clarence. In 1983, she moved to St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey, N.D.

Maymie was a member of a homemakers club and Sons of Norway. She was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and Black River Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and Bible school, was active in the ladies aid and sang in the choir. At the time of her death, she was a member of First Lutheran Church in Harvey, N.D.

She enjoyed baking, cooking and crocheting.

Maymie is survived by three daughters, Helen (Pete) Barstad of Harvey, N.D., Marilyn (Dave) Podbreger of Kempner, Texas and Carlyn Stadum of Fergus Falls; two sons, John (Harriet) Gullingsrud of Bismarck, N.D. and Donald (Emy) Gullingsrud of Winter Park, Fla.; a stepson, Dan Nelson of Salem, Ore.; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Agnes Thyren of Minneapolis and Hazel Stumpf of Torrance, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Thomas; 10 siblings; and a son-in-law, Don Stadum. A00003B2000AP25
