Thief
River Falls - John "Jack" Grindeland, 67, died
on Sunday, March 30, 2003 at the CNC Unit of
Northwest Medical Center in Thief River
Falls.
Funeral
services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday,
April 2 (today) at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home
in Thief River Falls with the Rev. Mel Sich
officiating. Karen Sich will be the organist and
Joel Kezar will be the soloist. Casketbearers will
be all of Jack's friends and relatives. Military
honors will be accorded by the American Legion
Ecklund-Holmstrom Post #117 and Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post #2793.
John
Wayne Grindeland was born on May 18, 1935, the son
of Clarence and Gertrude (O'Hara) Grindeland, in
Thief River Falls. He was baptized and confirmed in
the Catholic faith and attended elementary school
and high school in Thief River Falls, graduating
from Lincoln High School in 1953. While he was in
high school, he worked for Schlecters Paint Store.
Jack entered the United States Army in 1953, and
was honorable discharged on August 13, 1964.
Following his discharge, he returned to Thief River
Falls and continued working for Schlecters for some
time. He also worked for Arctic and did custom
combining until his retirement.
Jack
enjoyed woodworking, painting and crafts. He loved
spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors
include his wife, Sharon; five children, Kristine
Grindeland of Goodridge, Chad Grindeland of Thief
River Falls, Darcy Rozowski of Thief River Falls,
Toni (Kenny) Larsen of Breckenridge, and Jackie
Grindeland of Thief River Falls; 14 grandchildren;
two brothers, Glenn (Joan) of Burnsville, and
Thales "Babe" (Paulette) of Thief River Falls; two
sisters, Patricia "Pat" Eide of Mesa, Ariz., and
Terese Armstrong of Goodridge; and several nieces
and nephews.
John was
preceded in death by his parents.
