Oscar Green, 98

Greenbush - Oscar G. Green, 98, died Saturday, November 17, 2001 at the Greenbush Nursing Home in Greenbush.

Funeral services will be held at 1 Green Obit 11/21 p.m. today (Wednesday, November 21) at United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Rev. Ken Hart officiating. Eileen Kilen will be the organist, and soloist Faye Bjorgan will be accompanied by Roger Bjorgan. Casketbearers will be grandchildren Roger, Wendell and Douglas Green, Sylvester Hemp, Florence Mundt, Carolyn Hoyer and Sue Ann Hemp. Interment will be in Bethania Cemetery in Greenbush.

Visitation was held after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, with an 8 p.m. prayer service at Collins Funeral Chapel in Greenbush. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

Oscar Gilbert Green was born on August 8, 1903 in Heriem Township of Roseau County near Greenbush, the son of Gustav and Caroline (Olson) Green. He grew up and attended school in Heriem Township and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On May 20, 1931, Oscar was united in marriage to Florence Voth at Greenbush. The couple farmed in Dewey Township near Greenbush for many years. Florence died on May 18, 1986, and Oscar moved to Elderbush Manor in Greenbush. Since September of 1999, he had resided at the Greenbush Nursing Home.

He was a life-long member of United Free Lutheran Church of Greenbush.

Oscar enjoyed working on the farm and driving tractor throughout his life, first as a livelihood and later, as a hobby as he helped his sons.

Survivors include two sons, Orin (Joan) and Albin (Muriel), both of Greenbush; a daughter, Carol (Ernest) Hemp of Greenbush; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Oscar was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son in infancy, three sisters and eight brothers.
