Gayle Gram, 54

Middle River - Gayle Gram, 54, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at Innovis Healthcare Center in Fargo, N.D.

Funeral services were held on Gram Obit Friday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Middle River with Rev. Mary Ronning officiating officiating. Barb Geer was the organist, and the soloist was Lois Anderson. Casketbearers were Eric Qualey, Skip Gram, Jamie Lorenson, Mike Lorenson, Tiffany Logan, and Daphne Logan. Interment was in First Lutheran Cemetery in Middle River with Collins Funeral Home of Middle River in charge of the arrangements.

Gayle Arlene Qualey was born on July 20, 1947 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Gust and Esther (Wasley) Qualey. She graduated from Middle River High School in 1965.

On February 4, 1966, Gayle married Keith Gram in Middle River where the couple made their home. Gayle received a two-year degree from Northland Community College in Thief River Falls and a Bachelor of Science degree from Moorhead State University in 1995. She was currently working on a master's degree in education. From 1995 to 1997, she taught at Roseau High School. She then became the foundation director at Northland Community and Technical College and was currently teaching business at Northwest Technical College in Redby.

Gayle was a member of the Middle River American Legion Auxiliary for 34 years and a past president. She was one of the original first responders and an EMT for the Tri-County Ambulance Service in Middle River for many years. She was also an EMT instructor. She also served on the Middle River Fire Department for many years. Gayle was active in a variety of community affairs. She served on the Middle River City Council and served two terms as mayor.

Survivors include her husband, Keith; three daughters, Kara (Shawn) Wagner of Middle River, Heidi (Greg) Nelson of Hawley, and Holly (Jim) Jones of Waseca; a son, Marc (Leslie) of Middle River; six grandchildren; her mother, Esther Qualey of Thief River Falls; a brother, Sheldon (Diane) of Middle River; and four sisters, Marilyn (Robert) Lorenson and Janet Logan, both of Middle River, Kathryn (Carlton) Hoehne of Neenah, Wisc., and Linda (Daniel) Demaskie of Green Bay, Wisc.

Gayle was preceded in death by a granddaughter, her father, and an infant brother. A00003B2002MR13
