- Hector Graff, 96, died Saturday, January 26,
2002 at Roseau Area Hospital in Roseau.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, January 31, at 10 a.m.
at Oiland Lutheran Church, rural Greenbush, with
Rev. LeRoy Flickinger and Rev. Alvin Sather
officiating. Linda Sovde was the organist, and the
vocalist was Orelle Vatnsdal. Interment was in
Oiland Lutheran Cemetery with Gieseke Funeral
Chapel of Greenbush in charge of the
arrangements.
Hector
Charles Graff was born on April 8, 1905 in Soler
Township of Roseau County near Greenbush, the son
of Julius and Emma (Helickson) Graff. He attended
school in Soler Township and was confirmed at
Oiland Lutheran Church.
Hector
farmed in Montana for eight years before marrying
Gladys Hudson on July 17, 1937 at Roseau. He worked
at Klondike Farms and farmed at Lake Bronson before
returning to the Haug area, north of Greenbush,
where he owned and operated the Haug Store for 37
years. He drove school bus for the Haug-Leo School
District for 27 and served as clerk of the Soler
Township board for many years. He also drilled
wells with his son and did general mechanical
work.
Hector
is survived by his wife, Gladys; a son, Gerald
(Donna) of Greenbush; a daughter, Nancy Gustafson
of Greenbush; four grandchildren; two
step-grandsons; two great-grandchildren; four step
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Juel Graff of
Greenbush and Reuben (Martha) Graff of Fosston; and
a sister, Deborah Sather of Greenbush.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; a son in
infancy; a son-in-law, Marlo Gustafson; two
brothers, Clarence and Oscar; and two sisters, Judy
Bergan and Eleanor Hudson.
