Leonard Gonsorowski, 82

Newfolden - Leonard Adam Gonsorowski, 82, died on Thursday, September 12, 2002.

Funeral services were held on Leonard Gonsorowski Monday, September 16 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Warren with Rev. Gary LaMoine officiating. Darlyne Votava was the organist and Phyllis Nowacki was the soloist. Casketbearers were Leonard Blazejewski, Jerry Olson, David Bakke, John Bjorsness, Wallace Bengtson and Daniel Moose. Interment was held in Calvary Cemetery in Warren with military honors accorded by the Warren American Legion Post 27.

Leonard Adam Gonsorowski was born on February 10, 1920, the son of Louis and Mary (Paschke) Gonsorowski in rural Walsh County, North Dakota. He was baptized at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Warsaw, N.D. and raised in the Catholic faith. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On June 30, 1947, he was united in marriage to Marcella Jarombek. They were married for 50 years. They owned and operated The Crow Bar in Manvel, N.D. and later Leonard's Place in Kilkenny where he also served as mayor. Leonard was also an auctioneer. The family moved to Newfolden in 1963 where he farmed until retirement. He served on the Marsh Grove Township Board and was a long-time member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Middle River.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph of Minnetonka and Dexter (Karen) of Viking; daughter, Gwen of Blaine; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Hubert (Ione) of Thief River Falls, Edward (Lois) of Tacoma, Wash., Daniel of Baudette and Conrad (Betty) of Grygla; two sisters, Rose (Harry) Kurowski of Grand Forks, N.D. and MaryAnn (Gaylord) Loughrey of St. Paul; and several nieces and nephews.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Florian; a sister-in-law, Therese Gonsorowski; and a nephew.
