Gerald Gonshorowski, 67

Greenbush - Gerald Gonshorowski, 67, of Greenbush, died on Sunday, May 2, 2004 at his home.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 7 at Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush, with Pastor Larry Severson officiating. Casket bearers included Virgil Gryskiewicz, Lambert Schires, Rhett Haugen, Jon Vacura, Darrin Forst, James and Mike Bergsnev. Honorary casket bearers included all of Gerald's friends and Hospice personnel, Marilyn Graftstrom, Beth Lund, Deb Vacura and Agnes Paulsen and special helper Duane Taggart. Interment was held at Barnett National Cemetery. Military honors were provided by Moen-Zimek post 88, American Legion of Greenbush.

Gerald Gonshorowski was born October 17, 1936 in Greenbush, the son of John and Florence (Pulczinski) Gonshorowski. He grew up in Greenbush and attended school in District 58, Polonia Township and at the Haug-Leo Schools. He worked road construction at various locations, served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958 and at the missle sites in North Dakota.

He married Mavis Vacura January 29, 1966. They farmed in Polonia Township, rural Greenbush. Gerald was an active member of the community. He served on the Polonia Township Board for 29 years, the Farmer's Co-op Ag Service Board of Greenbush for 20 years, the Roseau County Co-op Association Board and was a past president of the Western Roseau County Sportsmans Club.

Survivors include his wife Mavis, two daughters, Rebecca (Lowell) Langaas and Rachel (Brian) Kjos, all of Greenbush; one son, Ryan of Greenbush; four grandchildren; four brothers, Gale (Dorothy) of Inver Grove Heights, Gervase (Karen) of Hopkins, Mark of Greenbush and Nathan (Julie) of Darrington, Wash.; one sister, Roxann (Laddie) Forst of Warroad; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two nephews; and his father-in-law, Edward Vacura Jr.
