John Gonshorowski, 95

Greenbush &endash; John Peter Gonshorowski, 95, Greenbush, died Friday, March 29, at Karlstad Healthcare Center, Karlstad.

Services, led by Father Don Braukmann, were held Monday, April 1, at Gieseke Funeral Chapel, Greenbush. Honorary pallbearers included John's friends and relatives. The cremains will be interred in Blessed Sacrament Cemetery, Greenbush.

John Peter Gonshorowski was born October 20, 1906, in Polonia Township, Roseau County, to Adam and Anna (Szcaepanski) Gonshorowski. He grew up and attended school in Polonia Township. He moved to Milwaukee where he lost his leg in an industrial accident. He then attended jeweler's school and later returned to the Greenbush area and took over the family farm. He married Florence Pulczinski on November 7, 1935 at Greenbush. They continued to farm in Greenbush. He also worked for Polaris Industries in Roseau. After retiring there, he continued to farm and to help his sons farm and also helped on the neighbor's farms. While farming was his passion, he also was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by five sons &endash; Gerald (Mavis) of Greenbush, Gale (Dorothy) of Inver Grove Heights, Gervase (Karen Nelson) of Hopkins, Mark of Greenbush, and Nathan (Julie) of Darrington, Washington; and one daughter: Roxann (Laddie) Forst of Warroad; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1990, two grandchildren, and eight brothers and sisters.
