- Anna C. Gjovik, 96, died Wednesday, January
9, 2002 at Good Samaritan Center in
Warren.
Funeral
services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January
12, at Collins Funeral Chapel in Karlstad with Rev.
Art Wood officiating. Valdonna Jenson was the
organist, and Pat Schoeberl was the soloist.
Casketbearers were Boyd Johnson, Gene Connelly, Ken
Beito and Harvey Hanson. Interment was in Greenwood
Cemetery in Strathcona.
Anna
C. Gjovik was born on December 31, 1905 in Worth
County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Signhild
(Hanson) Gjovik. When she was a child, Anna moved
with her family, first to Libby and later to
Strathcona where she attended Rankin School in Como
Township of Marshall County near her home. She was
baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran
faith.
Anna
remained at home to care for her mother until she
passed away in 1958. She then worked at the Good
Samaritan Center in Warren until her retirement in
1982. From 1982 to 1991, she made her home with her
nephew on the family farm near Strathcona, helping
care for her grandnieces. In 1991, she moved to
Good Samaritan Center where she continued to care
for and help other residents.
In
addition to caring for others, Anna enjoyed sewing
and knitting.
Survivors
include her nephew, Bert (Sandra) Gjovik of Park
Rapids, and her grandnieces.
Anna
was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and
