Evelyn Gibeau, 99

Red Lake Falls - Evelyn Gibeau, 99, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial was on, Gibeau, Evelyn, photo Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, in Oklee, with Father John Kleinwachter, Celebrant and Father Joe Richards Con-Celebrant. Casket bearers included: Randy Dufault, Greg Dufault, Tim Dufault, Mark Nelson, Scott Nelson and Jim Gibeau. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Oklee. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services on Saturday in the church.

Evelyn Louise Gibeau was born Dec. 10, 1903 in Lambert Township of Red Lake County, to Joe and Margaret (Lambert) Bergeron. She was raised in Lambert Township and attended country school there. She did house work for different people in her younger years. She was united in marriage to Sam Gibeau, Aug. 8, 1928 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Oklee, MN. During her early days of marriage the couple worked on a farm near Argyle, then moved back to Oklee, where she worked at a few places including a restaurant. The couple moved to Milwaukee, Wisc in 1951. Her husband Sam died May 26, 1962. Evelyn returned to Oklee in 1965. She entered the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls in 1999.

Evelyn was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Oklee, St. Ann's Guild, American Legion Auxillary, and served as a Senior Volunteer. Her favorite memories include playing cards with her grandchildren and spending time with them. She also enjoyed playing cards and Bingo with her senior friends in Oklee.

Survivors include four children, Gerald (Anita) Gibeau of Brainerd, Elizabeth "Bette" (Vearl) Nelson of Babbit, Jane (Jerome) Dufault of Grand Forks, N.D., Rolland "Joe"of Atlanta, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; and 35 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one granddaughter; four brothers, Albert, Dennis, Alphonse and Elmer; seven sisters, Jane, Antionette, Mary, Rose, Alexine, Cecile, Eleanore. A00003B2003NV12
