Thief
River Falls - John Geroux, 89, died on Monday,
July 12, 2004 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center,
Fargo, N.D.
Funeral
services were held on Friday, July 16, at Johnson
Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Rev.
John Wollenzien officiating. Casket bearers
included members of the VFW Post 2793 and the
American Legion Ecklund-Holmstrom Post 117.
Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief
River Falls.
John
Geroux was born November 10, 1914 in Grand Forks,
N.D. the son of Joseph and Mary (Jurgenson) Geroux.
He attended school and grew to adulthood in the
Williams area.
John
entered the United States Army on October 14, 1941
and was honorably discharged on March 17, 1942,
serving in World War II. When he returned from the
Army, John worked as a farm hand in the Roseau area
and also as a ranch hand in the Cando, N.D. area.
He worked on the Halvorson Farms and the Newman
Farms for many years as well as their Service
Station. He moved to Riverside Terrace in Thief
River Falls on May 12, 1980, where he has since
resided.
He
enjoyed to sing-along, reading, riding horses and
jigsaw puzzles. John loved to watch television,
especially western movies.
He
was a member of the American Legion
Ecklund-Holmstrom Post 117 in Thief River Falls.
John
is survived by one brother, LeRoy (Jeannie) Geroux
of Reedsport, Ore.; one sister, Delores E. Thompson
of East Grand Forks; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
He
was preceded in dearth by his parents; one sister,
Myrtle Oliver of Las Vegas, Nev.; and one brother,
Lyle Geroux of Thief River Falls. A00003B2004JL21
