Erskine
- Gary "Gus" Gerlach, 47, formerly of Red Lake
Falls, died Thursday, February 15, 2001 at his home
in Erskine.
Funeral
services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday,
February 24, at St. John Lutheran Church in Red
Lake Falls with Rev. Jeffrey S. Lytle officiating.
Casketbearers will be Larry Shimpa, Jerry Shimpa,
Joseph Shimpa, Mark Violette, Lex Prenevost and
Dave Walters. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery
at Red Lake Falls.
Visitation
will be held for one hour prior to services at the
church. Johnson Funeral Service of Red Lake Falls
is in charge of the arrangements.
Gary
Gerlach was born on March 28, 1953 in Red Lake
Falls, the son of Gustav and Luella (Jahnke)
Gerlach. He lived with his family in Viking until
moving to Red Lake Falls when he was three years
old. Gary graduated from Lafayette High School in
1971.
He
worked at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls for a
short time, drove truck for Jolly Trucking in Red
Lake Falls, Northstar Trucking and was currently an
independent truck driver leased to Slipper Trucking
of Erskine.
Gus
enjoyed trucking, attending races in Brainerd and
the Rollag Steam Thrashers Reunion, spending time
on his computer, music and playing the guitar and
especially spending time with family and
friends.
Survivors
include several cousins and extended family
members.
