Celeste Gerardy, 66

Thief River Falls -- Celeste Gerardy, 66, Thief River Falls, died Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. CelesteGerardy

Celeste Ivadelle Pierce was born October 25, 1934 in Warren, to the late Harold and Florence (Nelson) Pierce. She was baptized in Viking and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She then was confirmed into the Catholic Faith at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. She grew up and attended school in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School.

On October 16, 1954, Celeste was united in marriage to Ronald Gerardy. The couple lived in Thief River Falls until 1991 when they moved to Owatonna. In 1993 she moved back to Thief River Falls where Celeste entered the CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center.

Survivors include husband Ron, Thief River Falls; six children, Mark Gerardy; Renae (Mitch) Hoard, Kristi (Mike) LaSalle, Brian (Kim) Gerardy, and Bruce (Mary) Gerardy, all of Thief River Falls, and Michelle "Mic" (Jim) Morrissey, Glenwood; Eleven grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Arlys (Dennis) Morrison, Askov, Valerie (Richard) Vigstol, Oak Grove, James (Ramona) Pierce. She is also survived by other family members including Shirley (Orvis) Nordby, Grygla, Walker, Joyce (Ernest) Landsrud of Grygla, Gordon (Margaret) Brateng of Olathe, Colo., Beverly (Dick) Burris of Spokane, Wash., Wendell (Doris) Brateng of New Hope, and Yvonne (Ray) Ellis of Wabasso, and many relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two nephews, Robbie and Travis; once niece, Denise; and brothers Vernon and Lyle Brateng.

Burial will be at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
