Crookston
- Juliette Genereux, 79, formerly of Terrebonne
and Red Lake Falls, died on Tuesday, July 22 at her
home in the Villa St. Vincent in
Crookston.
Funeral
services were held on Friday, July 25 at the
Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston
with the Rev. Bob Schreiner officiating. Interment
was in St. Anthony's Cemetery in
Terrebonne.
Juliette
Yvette Arel was born in Gentilly on July 27, 1923,
the daughter of Hector and Doria (LaFramboise)
Arel. She grew up on the family farm, was baptized
and confirmed in Gentilly and attended country
school.
On
September 2, 1942, she was united in marriage to
George Jerome Genereux at St. Peter's. The couple
farmed near Terrebonne and Juliette was also
employed at Arctic Enterprises in Thief River Falls
for ten years. Following their retirement in 1988,
they moved to Red Lake Falls. In May 1997, Juliette
moved to Crookston and made her home in the Summit
Apartments. She was a member of the Cathedral of
the Immaculate Conception and St. Anne's Circle,
and a former member of St. Anthony's Catholic
Church in Terrebonne and St. Joseph's Catholic
Church in Red Lake Falls. Juliette enjoyed playing
cards and visiting with her friends, crocheting,
gardening, and especially loved baking. She made
all types of breads and pastries.
Survivors
include nine sons, Charles of Buffalo, Francis
(Louise) of Alberta, Stephen (Barb) of Crosslake,
David (Linnea) of Crookston, Kermit (Peggy) of
Thief River Falls, Robert of Crystal, Jeffrey
(Donna) of Terrebonne, and Richard (Teresa) of
Crookston; seven daughters, JoAnn Berg of Crystal,
Andria (Van) Kalinowski of Dent, Linda Genereux of
Coon Rapids, Veronica (Rick) Besmehn of Brainerd,
Katherine Giannonatti of Mentor, Linette (Kevin)
Koralewski of Glencoe, and Doria (Les) Knack of
Crookston; 47 grandchildren; ten
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger (Gloria)
Arel of Fridley and James "Sylvio" (Marion) Arel of
New Hope; one sister, Geraldine (Lloyd) Sorenson of
New Hope; and many nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
Juliette
was preceded in death by her husband, George; a
daughter, Mary; two sons, George and Duane; a
son-in-law, Kirk Giannonatti; a granddaughter; her
parents; her twin sister, Bernadette Arel Riendeau;
an infant brother, Marcel Arel; and half-brother,
Henry; and a half-sister, Anna.
