Gatzke
- Vera E. Gardner, 70, died on Friday,
September 26, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center in
Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, September 30 at St.
Petri Lutheran Church in Grygla.
Vera
E. King was born on February 12, 1933 in London,
England, the daughter of Albert and Minnie (Baker)
King. She grew up in England and completed her
schooling there.
On
March 22, 1952 Vera was united in marriage to
Bernard Gardner in England. In June 1952, they
moved to Roseau and later to the Twin Cities, where
they resided for 22 years. They then moved to
Oregon until 1982, then to Wisconsin and on
December 5, 1997, they moved to Gatzke, where they
had since resided. Vera loved to cook, knit and
garden. She had collections of bells and angels all
over her house. She liked growing flowers and
vegetables and was known for making rugs. She also
enjoyed camping and fishing.

include her husband, Bernard; children, Amanda
(Orlin) Ostby of Gatzke, Robin (Jim) Morgan of
Griffin, Ga., Bob (Shari) Gardner of Grand
Junction, Mich., Martin (Kelly) Gardner of Salem,
Ore., Elizabeth (Norman) Allen of Poulsbo, Wash.,
David Gardner of Iron Mountain, Mich., and Darren
(Amy) Gardner of Salem, Ore.; 24 grandchildren; 26
great-grandchildren; and siblings, George (Joyce)
King of Devon, England, Pamela (Jack) Gower of
Swindon, England, Peter King of Swindon, England,
and Jeanette King.
Vera
was preceded in death by her father; a
great-granddaughter; a great-grandson; and brother,
