- Wilbur H. Gallimore, 93, formerly of
Pennington County, died on Thursday, March 13, 2003
at the Rose of Sharon Manor in Roseville.
Graveside
services were held on Tuesday, March 18 at Mazeppa
Cemetery in Mazeppa.
Wilbur
Herbert Gallimore was born on October 30, 1909, the
son of Howard I. and Edith M. (Summers) Gallimore
in Mazeppa Township of Wabasha County. He grew up
on the family farm and attended country school.
On
November 8, 1930, he married Florence M. Kittleson
in Pine Island. The couple farmed near Mazeppa
until 1948, when they moved to Rochester. In 1952,
they moved to Wheaton, Ill., near Chicago. Wilbur
worked as a carpenter and in 1971, they moved to
Highlanding Township in Pennington County and
started farming. Florence died in 1992 and Wilbur
continued to live on the farm. In the late 1990s,
he moved to Roseville and lived with his son. In
2002, he moved to the Rose of Sharon Manor, where
he has since resided.
Survivors
include four sons, Garnet (Corrine) of Roseville,
Howard (Janice) of Richfield, Bernard (Connie) of
Hot Spring Villlage, Ark., and Wesley (Harriet) of
Worth, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 34
great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild;
and one sister, Marjorie Evan of
Burnsville.
Wilbur
was preceded in death by his parents; his wife,
Florence; a sister, Hazel Olson; three brothers,
Max, Clifford and Roger Gallimore; one
granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
