Thief
River Falls - Mabel S. Gaarde, 95, died Friday,
November 16, 2001 at the CNC Unit of Northwest
Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral
services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November
20, at the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden
with Rev. Gary Barrett officiating. Judy Hogberg
was the organist, and the soloist was Lowell
Hogberg. Casketbearers were Clayton Troskey, Ray
Benke, Billy Wagner, Gene Connelly, Wallace
Bengston and Ron Erickson. Interment was in Spruce
Valley Cemetery in Middle River with Collins
Funeral Home of Middle River in charge of the
arrangements.
Mabel
Sophie Gaarde was born on January 15, 1906 in
Spruce Valley Township of Marshall County, the
daughter of Reier and Hansina (Ellingson) Gaarde.
She grew up, attended school and spent her entire
life farming with her family in Spruce Valley
Township. She moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home in
Thief River Falls and since September of 1989 had
resided at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical
Center.
Survivors
include a nephew, two nieces and several other
relatives.
Mabel
was preceded in death by her parents; seven
brothers, Edwin, Russell, Joe, Ralph, Hilmer and
two in infancy; and two sisters, Tillie and Hannah.
