Thief
River Falls - Edythe Franson, 84, died Friday,
April 16, at Northwest Medical Center in Thief
River Falls.
Funeral
services were held at
11:00
a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, at Evangelical Covenant
Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Merrill
Kindall officiating. Casket bearers included Dwight
Tangquist, Bob Wold, Dale Stark, Kenny Swanson, Tim
Erickson and Bob Michalicek. Interment was held at
Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Edythe
Styrlund was born July 15, 1919 in Viking, the
daughter of Albert and Esther (Lindquist) Styrlund.
She was baptized and confirmed. She grew up and
attended Newfolden High School, graduating in 1937
and went on to attend Mankato State Teacher's
College.
Edythe
was united in marriage to Victor Franson on June
14, 1947. She was a teacher for 10 years, teaching
grades 1-8 at country schools and at Viking
Elementary. She enjoyed gardening, reading and
baking.
Survivors
include Gary (Susan) Franson of Rosemount; one
grandchild; one daughter-in-law, Marci (Roger)
Shafer of Thief River Falls and many nieces and
nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her husband; one son,
Derald Franson; her parents; and brothers, Reuben
and Earl Styrlund.
