Red
Lake Falls - Norman Elmer Fournier, 77, died on
Thursday, January 15, 2004 at his home in Red Lake
Falls.
Catholic
Funeral Prayer Services were held on Monday, Jan.
19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake
Falls, with Father Gerald Noesen officiating.
Casket bearers included Daniel Swenson, Greg Lerum,
Gary Lerum, Randy Surprenant, Vernon Roy and Allen
Surprenant. Interment will be in St. Anthony
Catholic Cemetery in Terrebonne Township of Red
Lake County.
Norman
Elmer Fournier was born on September 19, 1926 on
the Family Farm in Terrebonne Township of Red Lake
County, the son of Xavier and Marie (Derosier)
Fournier. He was baptized in St. Anthony Catholic
Church and attended Country School.
He served
his country in the United States Navy. Following
his Honorable Discharge he worked in Milwaukee for
a time before moving back to Red Lake Falls.
Elmer
lived on the family farm and worked for Andy
Champagne and the American Crystal Company in
Crookston. Elmer moved into Red Lake Falls in 2000.
He
enjoyed hunting and having coffee with his buddies.
He was a
member of the American Legion in Red Lake Falls for
over 50 years.
Elmer is
survived by three sisters, Cecile (Vern) Surprenant
of Terrebonne, LaVonne Pearson of Napersville, Ill.
and Cleone (Ben) Barnes of New Hope; and many
nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was
preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anne
Roy, Obeline Jolly, Lillie Lerum and Marie in
infancy; brothers, Rheaume, Thomas, Samuel, Louis,
Richard, Earl, and Robert in infancy.
