After Art's retirement in 1983, the couple returned to Plummer and traveled to Norway that year with Gloria's mother and two of Art's sisters. For the past 17 years, the couple had wintered in Arizona.

Gloria was active at church and taught Sunday School for 14 years. She sang in numerous choirs and performed twice at Billy Graham crusades. She was also a member of the Christian Fellowship Choir.
