Fossell, 96

Hallock
- Roy A. Fossell, 96, died on Wednesday, May
28, 2003 at the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home in
Hallock.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, May 31 at
Evangelical Mission Covenant Church in Kennedy with
the Rev. Steve Thompson officiating. Patti Swanson
was the organist and Lyndon Johnson was the
soloist. Casketbearers were Bill Nelson, Duaine
Fossell, Warren Hauert, Merle Nelson, Jason Turn
and Evans Anderson. Honorary casketbearers were all
those who attended the service. Interment was in
Jupiter Mission Cemetery in Kennedy.
Roy Anslo
Fossell was born in Enok in Jupiter Township on
June 7, 1906, the son of Erick and Anna (Thyberg)
Fossell. He attended school and grew up in Jupiter
Township of Kittson County.
On
December 29, 1934, he married Freda Bogestad at the
Teien Covenant Church, near Drayton, N.D. Following
their marriage, the couple made their home at
Humboldt, Kennedy, Hallock and Karlstad, then moved
to their farm in Jupiter Township, where they
resided for 51 years. In 1992, they moved to
Karlstad. Roy was a member of the Evangelical
Mission Covenant Church of Kennedy. Freda died in
1999 and Roy continued to live in Karlstad until
2002. He then moved to the Kittson Memorial Nursing
Home in Hallock.
Survivors
include one son, Ron (Lana) of Kennedy; two
daughters, Judy (Jude) Gardner of Omaha, Neb., and
Janice Gilbertson of Birchwood; two granddaughters;
and several nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
Roy was
preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a
daughter, Jean; two infant sons; four brothers; and
