Lawrence Fossell, 81

Thief River Falls - Lawrence Fossell, 81, died Thursday, February 8, 2001 at the CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Fossell, Lawrence

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2001 at Evangelical Covenant Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Merrill Kindall officiating. Helen Dahlstrom was the organist, and Ron Fossell was the soloist. Bill Ingebrigtsen delivered the eulogy. Casketbearers were Lawrence's godsons Bill Ingebrigtsen, Scott Fossell, Todd Fossell, Shannon Boen, Tom Fossell, Robert Chipka, David Dahlin, Kane Fossell and Rick Dahlin. Interment was in Karlstad Cemetery in Karlstad with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Lawrence E. Fossell was born on November 25, 1919 at Hallock, the son of Willie B. and Marie (Clausen) Fossell. He grew up on a farm near Stephen and was confirmed in 1933 at Salem Lutheran Church. He attended schools in Enoch and Augsburg townships. Lawrence worked at the beet plant in East Grand Forks and at a packing plant in South St. Paul.

On August 25, 1946, he was united in marriage to Mildred Dahlin at Alma Baptist Church. The couple moved to Minneapolis and resided there for 49 years. Lawrence worked as a truck checker and loader for Red Owl in Hopkins for 38 years. In 1996, the couple moved to Thief River Falls.

For 25 years, Lawrence was a member of Crosstown Covenant Church in Minneapolis, serving as deacon. He sang with the Covenant Male Chorus for more than 25 years. After moving to Thief River Falls, he joined Evangelical Covenant Church and again served as deacon.

He enjoyed traveling, including several overseas trips, gardening and raising flowers and especially being with and helping children.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Mildred; his twin brother, Glenn Fossell of Montevideo; a sister, Roscella Dahl of Minneapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lucy Fossell; and a brother, Randy Fossell.
