Olger Foss, 90

Viking &endash; Olger Foss, 90, died on Thursday, January 23, 2003 at Gold Pine Nursing Home in Bemidji.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 27 at Zion Lutheran Church in Viking with Pastor Ollie Urdahl officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel-Stafford Cemetery, Stafford Township, Roseau County.

Olger Selmer Foss was born on Aug. 4, 1912 in Greenbush, the son of Otto and Anna (Peterson) Foss. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith in Greenbush, and attended Country School in Deer Township, near Greenbush. He worked for a short time at a Grocery Store in Roseau, and also for Hetteen's Welding and Machine Shop.

On Nov. 23, 1948 Olger was united in marriage to Bessie Esther Albin at Roseau. The couple continued to live in Roseau for three years before moving to Viking, where they farmed small grains and raised chickens and cattle. Bessie died on May 23, 1992.

Olger was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Viking, MN.

He is survived by one son, Ron (Nancy) Foss of Bemidji; three grandsons; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie; his parents; brothers: Anton, Christian, Oscar, Clifford, Thilmer, Freeman and Pedar; and sisters: Hilda Bertilrud, Alma Green and Alice Hanson.

Casketbearers included Donovan Foss, David Foss, Tom Hagen, Jerry Albin, Dale Foss and Michael Hagen. A00003B2002JA29
