Dennis Forst, 69

Strathcona - Dennis Forst, 69, died on April 26 at his home near Strathcona surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services for Dennis Forst were held on Thursday, April 29 at Faith Lutheran Church in rural Badger.

Dennis Forst, the son of Rose (Hynek) and Arthur Forst was born in Poplar Grove Township south of Badger on November 19, 1934. He attended grade school at Benwood and at the Grass Lake School, and high school in Greenbush. Dennis' dad passed away while he was attending high school so Dennis stayed home to help with the farm.

On October 20, 1956 he and Carol Lee Bjerk were united in marriage in the Klondike church. They moved to Minneapolis for a year to work and returned to raise Turkeys. He also worked at Shelley, MN for a farmer, and then moved back to the home farm in 1962. He worked road construction, cut pulp wood, sold logs and lumber, and began working at Polaris in 1967. He worked at Polaris for 30 years, retiring in 1997.

Dennis had many hobbies, things he enjoyed, and things that were very important to him. Most importantly were his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church. He loved deer hunting, liked many board games and cards, played horse shoes, lawn darts, volleyball, and river fished with his kids. Dennis loved sweets, and there were always lots of them around. He enjoyed watching the stock car races at Greenbush where his son races, and NASCAR on TV.

Dennis was an excellent handyman and could fix anything. He passed this trait on to his boys. While working at Polaris he worked in "rework," and now two of his boys work in "rework." He built go-carts and snowmobiles from scratch and enjoyed remodeling and carpentry. He also loved riding his Polaris snowmobile in his spare time.

Survivors include his wife Carol Lee; children, Linda Forst of Denver, Colo., Karen (Chet) Castle of Badger, Danny Forst of Badger, Connie Bishop of Badger, Dean (Deanna) Forst of Thief River Falls, Doug (Sheila) Forst of Strathcona, and Dale (Kara) Forst of Greenbush; 12 grandchildren; four sisters, Dolores (Morris) Lundquist of Eufala, Okla., Beatrice (Godfred) Svir of Thief River Falls, Ardith (Vernon) Waage of Greenbush, and Beverly (Joe) Swanson of Fergus Falls; and a sister-in-law, Terrye Forst of Forest Lake.
