Leonard "Bud" Ford, 85

Red Lake Falls - Leonard "Bud" Ford, 85, died on Thursday, November 28, 2002 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, December 2 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Rev. Gary LaMoine officiating. Gemma Drees was the organist and special music was provided by the St. Joseph's Adult Choir. Interment was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.

Leonard "Bud" Ford was born on August 17, 1917, the son of Charles and Bertha (Doughtery) Ford, on the family farm near Red Lake Falls. He attended country school in Browns Creek Township and as a young man, he took over the family farm. Besides farming, he raised cattle, turkeys, sheep, lambs, pigs and milked cows. He drove school bus for St. Joseph School for many years. On June 5, 1943, he married Elma LaCoursiere at St. Joseph's Church in Red Lake Falls. He was a member of the Pathfinders Snowmobile Club, Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Cemetery Board and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Church was very important to Bud and the Rosary was his favorite prayer.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, Sunday drives and especially enjoyed visits from grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Bev (Linus) Schmitz of Red Lake Falls; two sons-in-law; five grandchilren; five great-grandchilren; and sisters, Alice O'Connell and Marion (Bob) O'Connell, both of California.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elma; daughters, Yvonne and Pinkie; and sisters, Lois Castle and Helen Sherry.
