Katherine Ford, 86

Thief River Falls - Katherine Ford, 86, died on Thursday, February 20, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial was Ford,Katherine held on Monday, February 24 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with the Rev. Gerald Noesen officiating. Music was provided by Cathy Erickson. Casketbearers were Kenneth Rahier, Robert Rahier, Mary Jo Rahier, Tim Peterson, Mark Peterson, Amy Peterson, Tera Kaye Ford and Adam Johnson. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.

Katherine "Kaye" Bertha Haupt was born on February 22, 1916, the daughter of George and Rosetta (Gedde) Haupt in River Township of Red Lake County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church and attended country school. Following school, she worked as domestic help in the Minneapolis and Red Lake Falls area. Kaye worked in Red Lake Falls restaurants as a cook and waitress. She also worked many years as a nurses aide at St. John's Hospital and Detroiter Mobile Homes, which she retired from in 1981. Following her retirement, she worked as a home health aide for Red Lake and Pennington Counties, and was currently a caregiver for the Senior Companionship Program. In 1992, Kaye moved to Thief River Falls.

On November 4, 1941, Kaye was united in marriage to William "Bill" Ford in Red Lake Falls. The couple farmed in Browns Creek Township for several years before moving into Red Lake Falls. Kaye was an excellenct cook and enjoyed baking, card playing, playing at the casino and crocheting. Kaye loved spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Catholic Order of Foresters, VFW and St. Anne's Society.

Survivors include five children, Sharon (Ellwood) Erickson of Oxnard, Calif., Carolyn (Richard) Rahier of Grand Rapids, Lorna (Vernon) Peterson of Red Lake Falls, Michael (Deborah) Ford of Thief River Falls, and Terry (Julie) Ford of Papillion, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Gladys) Haupt; a brother-in-law; three sisters, Agnes Carriere of LaCresenta, Calif., Mary Columbus of Coon Rapids and Cecile (Art) Linden of LaCresenta, Calif.; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; two brothers, Martin and Edward; and two sisters, Elizabeth and Clara.
